Function: Photochromatic lenses, also called self-tinting, are designed to react to ultraviolet light. The lenses darken in bright light conditions, i.e., with ultraviolet radiation. Without UV light activation, the lenses remain in an almost clear state. They change their color according to how bright the light is. Therefore, photochromatic glasses darken only very slightly in certain situations, e.g., when a room is brightened by sunlight. The change in tint occurs within tens of seconds... if you ride from strong sun into a forest, it doesn't mean that the glasses will lighten in a second and vice versa... it's a process that takes tens of seconds.
In conjunction with 100% UV protection, self-tinting lenses ensure comfort and health for your eyes all year round.
Principle: Photochromatic glasses work with molecules. Silver halide and silver chloride molecules are responsible for the lenses changing color, allowing them to darken in bright light conditions and lighten in dark environments or environments without bright sunlight. When sunglasses are exposed to UV radiation, trillions of photochromic molecules temporarily begin to change structure. As soon as the shape of a huge number of molecules changes simultaneously, the lens surface darkens. The result is glasses that darken in bright sun and lighten back in dark environments, all without any intervention other than bright sunlight.
